The Buzz: Pollinator Gardens

The conversation around pollinators continues to gain momentum within the home gardening community. Google searches for pollinator gardens are up, hashtags like #PollinatorGarden are trending, and retailers are reporting increased demand for pollinator-friendly plants. At Gardenwell, planting vegetables without incorporating blooms for pollinators and beneficial insects simply isn’t an option—it’s part of our core ethos and the foundation of every thriving garden we create.

While function must always take the lead when supporting our pollinators, let’s indulge in a little design inspiration. The newly announced Pantone Color of the Year 2025, Mocha Mousse, feels like the perfect follow-up to last year’s Peach Fuzz. Those soft, warm tones of salmon, apricot, and peach captivated so many of us in the garden, from abundant annuals to timeless perennials. I can’t wait to see how we’ll layer these trending earthy browns into our gardens. Our moodboard is up, and trust me—it’s absolutely a mood. Calm, grounded, restorative…deep breath.

2024 Recap: a fond ode to peach fuzz

Here’s a roundup of our favorites from this palette in the garden:

  • Coreopsis: Crème Caramel, with its subtle warmth and creamy peach undertones.

  • Zinnia: Apricot Profusion and Oklahoma Salmon, for long-lasting color and voted “most popular” by the pollinators

  • Echinacea: Princess Peach and Cantaloupe, offering structure and sweetness in equal measure.

  • Foxglove: Heirloom Apricot Faerie Queen, a fairytale bloom if ever there was one.

  • Alyssum: Summer Peaches, the perfect edging plant for a soft, dreamy border.

  • Strawflower: Apricot Peach Mix, for a touch of everlasting charm in bouquets.

Here’s to dreaming up another season of beauty, resilience, and pollinator-friendly abundance. Happy garden planning!
